Richard Collier ( Christopher Reeve) is a playwright. After one of his productions during his college days an old woman walks up to him and hands him a pocket watch... and whispers "Come Back to Me". Eight years later while trying to get his head on straight he lands at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. While awaiting the dinning room to open, he finds himself in the Hotel's Hall of History. A picture of a beautiful young actress named Elise McKenna (Jane Seymour) draws his attention and he just feels that he knows her. After doing much research he discovers that the woman that approached him eight years earlier and Elise are one in the same, thus he begins his travel back in time to be with his one and only true love.
